2.1 This covers the processing of personal data in connection with the Legacy Notification Service as further described below (the "Service") by MiExact Ltd the "data controller" in respect of the processing described in this policy.
2.2 The personal data we process:
Name of executors and/ or beneficiaries (as applicable) of wills; and
Postal address of executors;
2.3 The processing we undertake with this personal data. Once probate is granted, Smee & Ford analyses the information contained in a deceased’s will, extracts information about charitable bequests and notifies its charity clients about applicable bequests.
In order to deliver this Service, and to improve it, Smee & Ford processes this personal data about the executors and beneficiaries described in such wills.
2.4 We process this personal data when it is in our, and our clients', legitimate interest. to do so, and when these interests are not overridden by applicable individuals' data protection rights. For example, we and our clients have a legitimate interest in delivering or receiving, respectively, the Service.
We also process this personal data when required by law, such as if we receive a request from law enforcement or other government officials.
2.5 We will retain this personal data for no longer than is necessary to carry out the purposes listed above and/or as required by applicable law – that is, this personal data will be deleted 12 months after processing as described in this policy.
